You have to go through a whole legal process of investigation and public comment, have public hearings.
They've had two sets of public hearings on these forced labor tariffs.
They've made some exemptions, made some adjustments to them.
So it's a more durable legal process that has taken much longer.
The temporary tariffs that were imposed in February, those collected about $31 billion over several months.
So that's not an insignificant amount of money.
Now, if those...
Temporary tariffs, which are subject to core challenge, if they ultimately are struck down, that money will have to get refunded.
So there's a lot of moving parts to this, but there's other tariffs coming down the road, other unfair trade practices, actions against the goods from Vietnam, goods potentially from Germany.
One big one that industry is watching for is semiconductors.
What the Trump administration is doing here is it's trying to rebuild the pressure that it had on other countries that the Supreme Court struck down.
The Trump administration immediately put in place some temporary tariffs that last for 150 days, 10%.
But that's not a lot of like lasting leverage.
You know, they've negotiated all these trade deals over the last year, so they feel like they have to try to keep them from all falling apart.
That's kind of the motivation behind this.
I don't think it's an immediate kind of a situation though.
We're talking a few months before you actually get to the point where you're imposing tariffs.
What you saw was officials coming out in support of Fed independence.
You saw Jerome Powell, the Fed chair, who's also under pressure from Donald Trump.
You also saw Ben Bernanke, the former Fed chair, as well as Michael Barr, who is the former Fed vice chair for supervision.
