And he was in the back foot today as well.
I mean, he was a couple of back feet behind Mads Pedersen.
But he pulled it back together.
Because he had to be very active.
He didn't give up, didn't rely on his team, like that group that he ended up in, to get across to the van der Poel group.
There was no other Alpecin to kind of ride her in there.
He was doing it, he was rotating on his own.
And actually it was when Pedersen had kind of realized they were getting close and done his kind of kamikaze move, that at that same point, Mathieu van der Poel dropped back to kind of just plug the gap between Philipsen and get him back onto that group.
So I'd say, for Alps and Deceuninck, as you say, it was a surprise that they had numbers because it was just in disarray and they just managed to rally them when they needed them.
