There's obvious ways and there's less obvious ways.
First of all, a lot of times when people talk about independent, they either mean I don't have advertisers controlling me or I don't have editors controlling me.
Okay.
Even if you don't have direct advertisers, if you're monetizing your content through YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and other
built in monetization platforms, you're still influenced to create content that won't violate those monetization rules so that you don't make money.
So that's that's still there.
But there's a lot of other ways that people are not truly independent, for example, wanting access to people in power.
And this is what I think has been very interesting about Fox News over the last few months where they are starting.
I mean, just two days ago when we learned about more troops tragically killed in the Iran war, Fox News didn't really sugarcoat it.
They even played a clip of Trump saying months ago, this is going to be two to three weeks and nobody's going to die.
And then they've got this.
I don't think it's out of a desire to kind of plan to flag and say we now oppose Trump.
But I think it's hedging because they don't know what comes next.
They don't know what's going to happen in November.
They don't know if this president is going to be the lamest of lame ducks for two years and we'll see approval ratings in the 20s.
So it's about preservation.
We also want access and to stay in good graces with the Republican Party and whoever replaces Trump.
And so, like, is that really independence?
I would argue that it's not.
