If I had to dig deep and say what is the real motivation here of Dario, I almost think that it's to scare others into slowing down.

So anthropic can just surge ahead.

Like, I don't know why I'm so cynical, but I'm not convinced that this is all being done out of the goodness of their hearts.

And the other aspect to this that I think is important is that when we think about what should happen in the United States, all of this talk about like end this, slow that down, etc., it is true.

Like the China Trump has sort of stumbled across something that is true, which is listen, China's doing XYZ.

And that's true.

China doing XYZ isn't the reason I think we need to be continuing with AI development, but in some kind of careful way.

It's that it's pointless to simply talk about suppression.

Like Trump's concern is this we can't let China blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

My concern is because you can't control what other countries are going to do, any moratoria that you put in place.

In the United States are basically going to be a waste of time because who knows how many other countries, but certainly dozens, if not more, are going to continue proceeding forward and Americans are going to be able to access that.

So for me, it's more about the futility of focusing on let's do the moratorium rather than Trump's instincts about, well, China wants this and China wants that.

We are um also, I mean, I'm very interested in seeing further reports about these specific instances where AI has jumped the rails, so to speak.
