Now, the trick is to ask them questions about things that they want to talk about.

So I fell in this trap.

I'd ask them questions I want to talk about, which doesn't work so well.

So you got to ask them questions that they actually want to talk about.

And it has to be on an authentic basis.

If you fake it, they're going to all be able to tell instantly.

Just by doing that alone, the person will at least hear you out a little bit more.

Then you've got to figure out what is it that person is going to land best with that person.

If I'm pitching an agent in Hollywood to somebody, what does an agent want?

An agent wants to make their client a bunch of money and wants to not look bad.

So you're actually doing a lot of like risk aversion things.

But you're actually like working, okay, how do I influence the agent to get to that main person?

I'm going to give a tangible example.

Most people think it's their boss who actually determines if they get a raise.

It is not your boss.

It is your boss's boss.

And so you have to do things for your boss to look good in front of their boss.

And then you have to look good in front of their boss.

And that's how you actually get a raise.

So like you have to be that.
