Okay, this was shocking.

So I've been a massive fan of Rick Rubin for probably decades.

I grew up listening to rap.

He founded one of the most important hip hop record labels in his dorm room when he was like 18 or 19.

I think he's 63 now and he's still making incredible music.

So I've done a bunch of episodes about him going back like five, six years ago, going back five, six years on my other podcast, Founders, right?

So I read biographies about him.

I read his book, Creative Act.

Have you read Creative Act?

Yes.

And so then I had the opportunity to meet him and then record an episode with him.

And I thought, you know, I've read his biography over and over again, watched every interview with him.

I thought I kind of knew what to expect.

And that was when he said, I'm a lazy workaholic.

You can even watch the clip on the show where it's like, you're lying to me, right?

Like, what are you talking about?

Because out of anybody in the world that gets paid to be themselves, you would say like Rick Rubin's got to be towards the top of that list, right?

And I thought he was just completely obsessed with music.

I thought he was just obsessed and absolutely loved his work.

And his whole point is just like, no, I have to force myself to do it.
