So this is a very dangerous moment where the the interests of government in having a surveillance state and tracking and controlling you are actually being matched by the interests of you know global corporates who want to track and control you, one for profit, one for control, and they're doing it in this pincer movement.

As a party and our our movement has realized there's a complete absence of leadership on AI at a federal level.

In government, it's split between about six or seven ministers.

I couldn't tell you how many departments or agencies it's spread across.

And clearly what we see is that AI needs a dedicated, clear focus and and the threats of AI to our environment, to our water supplies, to our

Jobs, to our ability to control our own economic and cultural future, it's absolutely critical.

So having an AI Spokes to sort of pull those threads together and hopefully have some coherent policy in response to it is something that we believe is important for us as a party.

And it's kind of interesting, you know.

I've I've seen the coalition move in this direction and have an AI spokes, but strangely, the Labour Party has decided they don't want a single AI spokes.

And I

I think that that is a real problem and it's going to become more problematic going forward.

Well, we need time to get the regs right.

And what we're saying is, look, for for once we could get ahead of the tech avalanche.

You know, all of this product is made overseas.

And we need to get our privacy laws up to scratch.

We need to get policies in place.

We need to work out if there is a legitimate space for these covert recordables, 'cause it's one you know, today it's glasses, tomorrow it might be a a lapel pin or a I don't know, a t a twenty four observation scarf or something.

But but the idea of covert recording devices that you can have as wearables is the problem.

So why don't we for once say, well actually hold on, these are not essential to society.
