He was reported missing by family in Moore County, North Carolina.
Authorities say once the 21-year-old breached the perimeter, Secret Service ordered him to drop both the shotgun and gas can.
He put down the gas can but raised the shotgun to a shooting position.
He was killed instantly by Secret Service.
There is frustration among law enforcement, both local and federal.

The Pima County Sheriff's Office is still leading this investigation, but the FBI still continues to be involved.

Tonight, FBI agents are going through materials found today during a search of the Fulton County, Georgia election office.
That search is said to be related to the 2020 election.
