I I didn't touch on string theory really just because of reasons of scope.
Um what I was trying to do in the the sort of more serious piece of work that I was doing that led to the
the write up of it was try to pin down and clarify what the s almost like the historical starting points of thinking this way are.
So, you know, string theory is a uh a cool place you get to.
Um
Ah, but if you ask like why did you start thinking those terms in the first place, um part of that comes from ideas in particle physics, part of it comes from saying, okay, suppose just from first principles I take classical gravity and I ask, how do you quantize classical gravity?
Well, that story doesn't naturally lead you to string theory.
It might lead you to string theory by a
long and winding road, but it it's not the starting point of that story.
Um but to be proof truthful, the other reason I didn't know any string theory, like I say, it was a pretty pretty half paid piece of work.
Um the Caverian versus canonical though.
So
Look at it this way, and and this is I think a a a serious insight that's worth having those on my inside is well known.
Um suppose you there's various ways in which I think this is an out-of-date way of putting it, but it's still helpful for some purposes.
Sure.
Suppose you you're in the mid 20th century, electrodynamics has you've got a good quantum theory of electrodynamics, you're kind of making your way to a a quantum theory of um the strong attraction, say.
Uh things are looking good, but you're interested in gravity.
So you've got a whole bunch of bits of technique.
Yeah.
