No one thinks string theory will tell us he'll win the next election, but um in the sense that it does do that kind of lowest grade discussion.

Um that's a glorious goal.

I'm a big fan of string theory.

Let's by all means let's pursue what

We can get there.

And there are reasons to think that the path towards more fundamental physics has been a path towards shorter and shorter length scales, and that ultimately quantum gravity tells us that that search will end, that there won't be any l meaning length scales below a certain scale.

Um and so I don't think it's quixotic or absurd to look for a fundamental theory in that sense.

But we misunderstand physics if you think that

what we learn of the world through physics is in is is knowing about the fundamental.

Yeah, okay.

So there are t different ways to talk about this.

Um, one way to talk would be to say

Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna measure a just don't go look experiment and maybe I'll see spin up, maybe I'll see spin down.

Um so there I'm gonna have some s in the future there are gonna be some David who C spin up, there are some David who C spin down.

Now

Depending what you think

the referent of David is, you could say, well, right now there's one David and that David will split into lots of Davids.

So I right now will have lots of different future experiences.

Or you could say

What I David am should be thought of as a four dimensional entity.
