What about consciousness?

What do you think about it?

Um, I mean the immediate thing I think about it is that I'm not a philosopher of mind, so don't assume anything I'm gonna say here is terribly um original or deep.

Um my basic take on consciousness is I think something like the broadly Dan Dennett line on consciousness is correct.

Um we used to say we are conscious, but we have lots of inflated

metaphysical views about consciousness, which are about taking our intuitions about consciousness too seriously.

And fundamentally there's no clash between consciousness

And

Complete microphysics.

But I mean I

I could say things to defend that claim, but they would none of them be original to me.

They're just really

endorsing positions in philosophy of mine that I find persuasive.

Uh, not formally.

I mean when I was in Oxford here and I chatted periodically.

Um, he's a

Deeply interesting guy.

Uh but no we don't have any.
