One thing I want to shout from the rooftops is if you have TSA pre check and a passport.
There's a relatively new program called TSA Touchless ID.
If you can opt into touchless, you will have one of the smoothest airport experiences you've ever had.
Number one, are you a frequent flyer?
If you only fly a couple times a year, you probably don't want to plunk down a lot of money in annual fees or even an annual fee at all for a once or twice visit to an airport lounge or a free bag or priority check-in.
Number two, if you really are a lounge lover and who isn't these days, everybody wants that Instagram post with
a picture of a martini or an old fashioned, but you need to assess the lounge situation in your home airport and in your frequent destinations.
Number three, and this one's important, especially for people just getting into the points and miles game.
Check the minimum spend on some of these credit cards to get that hefty signup bonus.
You want to make sure you're not just plunking an extra $5,000 on a card simply to get these bonus points, because you're going to wipe that out if you don't have enough money to pay off that card.

I confess that I collect those Starbucks mugs in my travels around the world.

Just buy what makes you happy, whether that's a fridge magnet, a shot glass, a golf course pencil.
