As well, beyond this franchise relationship, we have bills like in Minnesota that would have eroded non-compete agreements, which are very important to the franchising world.
We have sales reporting bills.
New York has a current law that requires franchisors to report back to the Department of Revenue the returns that they get from the sales report of their franchisees.
As far as I know, nothing's ever come of that, any additional revenue.
But other states, the thing is that they're looking to get any budget dust they can by shaking the coins.
And so even if it's ineffective, they're still going to try it.
But the problem is it's a burden on the franchisor.
It's a burden on the franchisee.
And at the end of the day, it doesn't do anything.
So why do it in the first place?
And
I understand the need for revenue, but let's do things that will actually raise revenue rather than this causing an administrative burden on folks.
And so I have
fighting that.
Sometimes I hate to say it, but I'm a vehement advocate for the way things are or maybe for the status quo.
And if we can just have legislation that only helps our companies and also our franchisees, that would be my ideal world.
Unfortunately, I spent a lot of time just stopping bad bills that would have a very detrimental effect to both franchisees and franchisors.
