I mean, I understand completely about having people verified, making sure that they're in the country legally and that aspect.
However, where the concern comes is if you go too far to the extreme end.
I remember a couple years back, we had a bill in Wyoming where they wanted to e-verify independent contractors.
I contacted the Department of Homeland Security, and they said, Dean, you can't e-verify independent contractors.
The system is not set up.
It's only set up to go for employees.
So when I testified on the bill, I said, you know,
The only thing I like about this bill is the sponsor, because I've known him for years.
Everything else about this bill, I couldn't comply with it even if I wanted to.
so that's where we have to keep our focus in.
And when we do draft these bills and this legislation, we kind of have to run it through beyond the theoretical aspects of it, but kind of do some deep thinking of this, well, let's run it the next step.
I often tell folks,
when we have legislation, we have to think in terms of chess, not checkers, as far as what will be happening down the road.
Well, and that's what I was getting at, Paul, exactly, with the good faith.
If you as an employer operating at good faith,
take in these documents and due diligence, there should be an out for you from liability on that because you're in the business of selling stuff, not in the business of being a document expert.
