Yeah, so I'm Declan Mulhern and I am the vice chairperson of the club at the moment.
Yeah, it's very busy now.
We have about 24 groups in total running here during the week for training and stuff like that.
And about half of them will be female groups as well.
So yeah, busy all the time we're on now to be fair.
Yeah, like that, it was kind of the first time that Canada Galway FA ran an over-35s for women.
So it was historically one in that sense in itself, but then it was the first time that Kintona have actually had an over-35 ladies team.
And like that, I'd say...
Nearly half the team were mothers and stuff like that so it was great to see them and then all the kids were up watching that as well so it was great to see and it was a great thing for the club and it was great to see Galway FA then introducing the women's side of it in because we've had the male side for years there so it's good to see them introducing that side in to allow mothers and whatever else to get back in at that stage because a lot of them would have dropped out earlier on and to be able to go back into over 35 soccer is just unreal for some of them you know.
It does, yeah, definitely.
As William said, this would have been predominantly male years ago.
So we've such a huge number of girls there now, half are membership, it's currently females.
So for that sort of programme it was really great to see and it kind of opens it up for everyone to understand or whatever, but it's great for the girls here to have that sort of support that the girls provide to them as well.
Like you know, I said we've, from a coaching side of it, we've like 30 female coaches there now, which is huge, like we've never had that before.
And then we have two for coaches there that are going for UEFA B licenses.
So, like, where it's come from, from being a male side, it's really, really progressed into being a real female thing now.
And, like, we as a club support anything they do.
And when the girls came to us, you know, to do the initiative and the programme and all that, like, we were 100% behind them.
And it's great to see now that, you know, that they're rolling it out into other groups there, which is great to see.
i think it does yeah yeah to be fair though because the women have been very kind of active in the club recently and said like we're a new committee in here as well so we've three kind of female members involved two predominantly and then one girl that helps out so again there's a big female spread coming into the club and as a community like it's great to see that we're able to do this sort of thing and it encourages then all the kids and stuff to come in as is over 35 as i mentioned previously this year now we're hoping to have two teams in because of the demand
