Obviously, the United States and China are big rivals and competitors economically and technologically.

But the fact is that they have started engaging with one another.

Trump was here a couple of months ago, and Xi Jinping will be meeting him in the United States in a few months' time.

And they have set up some kind of a process which is aimed at developing some kind of mechanism for trade to kind of deal with some of their problems.

So right now, China's biggest problems are not with the United States.

And what China would like at the moment would be

to have the Strait of Hormuz opened, to have everybody going back to making money at the same level as they were making it before and buying Chinese things.

That's right.

So they exported more than a million cars during the month of June.

And that was part of a kind of a huge, a big surge in exports in general during the month of June.

And you've seen this during the first half of this year.

And part of it is to do with the fact that, you know, you've got these this trend.

extremely competitive environment here in terms of dozens of Chinese car manufacturers that are competing with one another.

And they've had such a sort of a vicious price war that the government in the last few months had to ban below cost selling because essentially none of these companies were really making money.

So out of dozens of them that are operating, only about three of them are actually profitable.

And so what that means is that, you know, they're able, they've developed systems that are producing at an incredibly efficient rate and just at really, really low prices.

And so whatever price they get in, say, the European Union, even if it's higher than what they could charge in China, you know, they're still going to be doing very, very well and still going to be much less than their competitors.

Well, I think that, you know, one of the encouraging things is that although they're taking shots at one another, the back channels and the negotiating channels are continuing.

So neither side has said this whole process is over and we're now just back to where we started.

And so I think that while they're doing all of this, this in a way, you know, war, like in the famous Clausewitz phrase, is the continuation of politics by other means.
