That is not the way to ultimately stop any of these problems.
And so that is something that is deeply cyclical, a bunch of elites constantly being off balance.
They're not.
And the West was top of its game for a long time, economically, militarily, very stable societies.
It got to dictate terms of the world, to your point.
And so many of the things that are unfolding now, where our economic might and our institutions are in decay and our place in the world is being questioned, these are things now where a lot of leaders, a lot of publics,
who have grown up in that world where the West was at the top of its game, they think, oh, it's all a lot of alarmism to believe that things could really dramatically deteriorate.
Fundamentally, this is all just a bit of turbulence and then things will go back to normal.
And they don't seem to realize that the vast majority of people in the world have lived through everything that's unfolding now and much, much worse.
When people talk about doom or the breakdown of societies,
That's happened to so many people.
It's happened in our lives in just the last few years, which is why there's now tens of millions of refugees in the world.

It's still very early for a lot of those companies.

That's right.
I mean, it's kind of...
wild to think back to that moment now, because of course we only think about those Silicon Valley companies as big tech.
That wasn't even a label.
And it was sufficiently quaint that there was a film being made at Google the first time I went to Google in my career.
