And this is how you get people to obey in advance.
This is how you get other universities to obey in advance.
And this is actually how you hurt Harvard, even if legally they end up winning in the end.
I think so, too, because that letter made it sound like they were looking for information, probably, again, more information than they were legally entitled to.
Because the fact is, as we know, universities every two years have to recertify.
This is their bread and butter.
Universities know what kind of information the government needs.
This is a cooperation program that has worked for years.
So the fact that Kristi Noem put out a request that Harvard didn't comply with and meant they were asking for personal, probably sensitive type information that Harvard knew was going to be used against them.
I do not see them handing that over now just because of this letter.
Oh my gosh, that's exactly my thought when I was reading that too.
They're asking those universities to spy on their students for them.
Universities cannot get into the business of spying on their students.
They will lose all their students.
This is like an ethical, moral, not just legal stance that Harvard has to take.
in order to be the kind of place students wanted to go.
Again, students who get into Harvard have lots of choices.
So Harvard knows this.
They have to remain a place where a student feels safe.
They're not going to be spied on once they come there and try to learn.
