The implication is that the monarchy is in an unprecedented state or a low point.
But, I mean, republicanism in Britain is very much a minority pursuit.
It's an enthusiasm for kind of political hobbyists, who by definition are not representative of the great mass of people.
Of course, there's the scandal about the former Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein, for example.
But...
I mean, the one thing that has always been a feature of the British monarchy has been terrible sex scandals, you know, sort of soap opera style shenanigans, terrible secrets, skeletons in closets and so on.
I mean, this is absolutely standard.
