Included four former vice presidents and numerous members of Congress past and present, Republicans and Democrats, George W. Bush recalled Cheney as his closest White House advisor in times of crisis, but said Cheney never ceased being that guy from Wyoming.

President Trump did not attend.

Cheney's daughter Liz spoke and made this brief reference to her father's strong criticism of Trump in recent years.

Dick Cheney's resume includes being a GOP congressman, presidential chief of staff, defense secretary, and vice president, always wearing his conservative politics on his sleeve.

But he rejected President Trump's claims that the 2020 election was stolen and was appalled when a pro-Trump mob rioted at the U.S.

Capitol in a bid to overturn that election.

He supported his daughter, Congresswoman Liz Cheney, when she voted to impeach Trump and campaigned for her when Trump worked to defeat her when she ran for re-election in Wyoming.

In TV spots on her behalf, Dick Cheney called Trump a threat to the republic and a coward.

Liz Cheney lost that election.

It was her father's last public act in American politics.

No, it's not okay.

Dick Cheney grew up in Nebraska, flunked out of Yale, but eventually headed back to school.

By age 34, he was chief of staff to President Gerald Ford.

He won a congressional seat in Wyoming and later was defense secretary to President George H.W.

Bush.

After a stint as CEO of the energy firm Halliburton, Cheney was named George W. Bush's running mate.
