I would rather have stripped naked and ran out of my house and down the road than stood in front of an audience and spoke or sung.
So I think in midlife we box ourselves in, don't we?
You think you've done that.
I can't do anything new.
You know, and I think when you have kids, if you're not...
If you're not in a job that requires you to public speak or be up in front of people, then it's really alien.
And it did not bounce back to me at all.
I had to really work at it.
I had some hypnotherapy.
I had a couple of public speaking online lessons, which in the first five minutes gave me everything that I needed.
I mean, the whole lot was helpful.
Well, she said to me that, first of all, she said, your brain, so if you say to your brain, I'm not nervous, I'm not nervous, I'm not nervous, your brain goes nervous, nervous.
It only hears, you know, the main point of that sentence.
So you've got your language and your thoughts are really powerful.
Now, I already knew that because I had read all of these books, but I'd forgotten.
