Was there a period of time when I got into debt and had trouble paying? Oh, absolutely. I did not pay it off every month. I couldn't afford it. Don't forget, women were paid less in those days. I used my credit cards for business, perhaps as a loan, if you will. But it was impossible for me to pay it off every month because I didn't make that much money.

But my needs are pretty simple, okay? I love to write. I love to teach history. I love to teach inclusive history. I'm a stamp collector and I still love to be able to take someone out to lunch. That freedom of like, yeah, I may be older, but I can still do this and I'm going to keep doing it as long as God lets me.
