I know I'm a little bit older than you, but I can remember being very into the U.S.-Canada game, and Sidney Crosby, the man who's a hero yet again, he had the golden goal for Canada.
I was kind of crushed as a young fan.
The guy on my favorite hockey team here had the game-winning goal, but I wanted Team USA to win.
You were demoralized, Donnie, by that loss.
I'm watching Ryan Miller, the former Sabres goalie, just stand on his head game after game.
Guys like Zach Parise out there.
He might have been the captain of that team.
But I was so into that, and I couldn't imagine not rooting for the United States.
So one of those have your cake and eat it too scenarios.
Kind of like when Marco Andre Fleury would come back here with another team and it's, man, I hope Fleury is phenomenal and the Penguins win the game 1-0.
Like Fleury has 39 saves, but the Pens find a way to get one goal.
I mean, that's just so hard to ask for.
I get that it's very realistic because Crosby's just that good of a player where he can very well have a great game and Canada could lose to the United States, so I get that could happen.
But if I got to pick one, I want to see the United States win gold because...
I've gotten to see the Penguins win three Stanley Cups.
I've gotten to see the Steelers win two Super Bowls.
No, I haven't gotten to see the Pirates win anything beyond a one-game wild card.
But I've never seen Team USA Hockey win gold.
Last time they did it was 1980.
