That was what everybody bought, right?
Yeah.
tchotchkes, right?
And all of a sudden people started getting into, wow, scented candles and pillows and jewelry suddenly became this huge category within the gift industry that could be sold through so many different types of stores as opposed to just
a jewelry shop or a specialty apparel boutique.
So kind of the ebb and flow of what the consumer demands creates a natural resilience in the industry.
And then also, I think during the Great Recession, people stopped buying
and second homes and taking big trips, but they continue to spend money on affordable indulgences.
And there is something about the process of buying something that you don't need, but that makes you or will make someone else feel good.
That is just, it's part of the human spirit.
And it can be dampened, but it was never snuffed.
So, you know, in 2008, people kept buying gifts, like they wanted to still feel good.
They wanted to still do things for family, for friends.
They wanted to make small changes to their home environment, even if they couldn't completely, you know, renovate, redecorate, whatever.
And
So the gift category held up.
What happened to the gift show?
Yeah, we lost a little bit, but not a ton.
Everybody stayed in.
They just took smaller footprints.
