Apple will close its first unionized retail location in the U.S.
The company says the closure of its retail store in Towson, Maryland, is due to the departure of several retailers and declining conditions at the shopping mall.
The store will permanently shut down in June and will not be replaced.
Now, Apple says employees will be eligible to apply for open roles at the company in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
However, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents the Towson employees, called the decision union busting.
The union also said Apple's claim about the collective bargaining agreement is simply false.
