California Democrat Eric Swalwell says he plans to resign his seat in Congress.
Swalwell's resignation follows a report of him allegedly committing sexual assault on a former staffer.
And a separate report cited four women who described Swalwell committing sexual misconduct.
Now, Manhattan prosecutors had opened a criminal investigation into these allegations, which Swalwell denied.
And on Monday, the House Ethics Committee announced it had started a separate probe.
On Sunday, Swalwell abandoned his campaign for governor of California.
Just weeks ago, he had been polling among the top Democrats to succeed Gavin Newsom.
At the same time, Texas Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez said that he plans to retire from the House on Tuesday.
Now, this announcement comes weeks after Gonzalez admitted to having an affair with a staff member who later killed herself.
There was a growing bipartisan outcry in the House for Gonzalez to resign.

It cuts off vessels from transiting this vital waterway to and from Iranian ports and other coastal areas.
Now this move came in response to failed negotiations between the U.S.
and Iran in Pakistan over the weekend.
Now we are being told the U.S.
and Iran are in discussions about holding another round of face-to-face negotiations for a longer-term ceasefire.
The goal here is to hold fresh talks before the expiration of the current two-week ceasefire.
And one idea is to return to Islamabad for a second round of negotiations.
