I think part of our brain, like the amygdala that's involved in processing emotions, is very active and is maintained throughout age.
Other parts of the brain tend to decline.
So I think you're right that there can be an emotional attachment to a lot of our memories.
Some of them are bittersweet.
Some of them are things we go back to for comfort.
Sometimes we even change them a little bit so they fit the way we might have thought they happened.
I think that happens writ large.
Sure, and that's part of our emotional tuning, like what makes us feel good.
Some memories we don't want to revisit.
PTSD, there's a lot of research on how we can try and help people.
So I think memory can be tuned that way, and a lot of it can have an emotional valence.

I still remember, even though I'm not sure I remember it accurately, this Wizard of Oz.
And now when my daughter was in Wizard of Oz, I was like, oh, this is such a great play.
