And when you can use supernatural tropes and motifs, it means you can use symbolic language.
Because horror films necessarily are dealing with dark material, they're a wonderful vehicle for dealing with our anxieties and maybe some of the darker aspects of our nature.
So I've been excited at the whole the slate of horror films that have come out recently.
I watched Obsession a few weeks ago.
It was a heat wave in London, and I wanted to escape the heat.
And so in the same week, I watched Obsession.
And backrooms, I think backrooms is also really interesting.
But what I liked about Obsession is it had a great concept, it has a lot of layers behind that concept and it really packs a punch.
It's really well executed, it's well shot.
It was shot on a really low budget.
It's reported that it was shot for less than a million dollars, especially considering it outperformed a huge film like a Star Wars film that came out recently.
So quite a bit
Is superb in this film, especially the lead actress, which is surely the thing that stands out for anyone watching this film for the first time, I think.
So if you're interested in horror, I definitely would recommend you go and watch Obsession.
I am gonna be able to talk about the plot in a way which doesn't spoil it.
