At this point, it means nothing and not it means nothing that it isn't going to ultimately lead to kind of an explanation.
But it is at this point just an independent finding, because along with that same sentence was that there was no external signs of injury.
So, for example, let's say if he was struck in the back of the head.
right, to get a mark on the inside of the body, you would have something showing on the outside as well.
And there wasn't.
This was deep underneath tissue after a dissection of that area was performed, which is a new dissection that was not performed in the initial examination.

There are certain points of the body.
The occiput, which is the back of the head, is one of those points.
That is where gravity kind of pulls the most.
And it is not impossible that this is discoloration from congealed blood, which would be, again, normal, but a post-mortem finding, not something that would have necessarily happened when he was alive.
But that's just one total kind of theory explanation.
There are other things that could also potentially cause this, but at this point, alone as a finding, it has no meaning.
It depends.
It depends because, remember, it's got to do with weight, whether you float or whether you come down.
And let's say at the time, initially, when the person is actually drowning, they sink.
But then over time, when a person is deceased, they'll start to bloat.
And so it really depends on timing and when the body was found.
