If you have a child under three months of age, please don't give any medication without consulting your doctor because there's certain things babies under three months, particularly under a month of age, we want to hear from you if your child has a fever.
But fever reducing medicine is on the table for young children.
Saline is your friend, which is just salt water.
You can make it yourself or you can buy saline nose drops, but they're really effective at loosening the mucus.
Um, and loosening the mucus makes them sneeze or swallow it, so there's less coughing also because you're getting rid of some of that drainage.
But medications, we don't really have any medications for kids under age four.
We used to have cough and cold medicines.
They didn't work very well, but there were more side effects than benefits.
And so that's why those have kind of left the table.
There are some natural products.
Some people like to use, you know, agave nectar for kids under a year of age.
You can't take honey for a kid under a year of age.
There are some honey based cough remedies over a year of age.
Do they work?
I mean, you can do it.

It's something to do.
