What recommendations would you make to parents of a newly diagnosed child, or it's assumed that the child might be on the spectrum?
I say
Speak to other parents who you can relate to personally who are a little bit ahead of you on the journey.
And listen to autistic people.
Those are the two things I say.

In our educational framework, the CERTS model, you know, we talk about um
in our earliest stage 'cause we're developmental, um, what we call the social partner stage.
And this would be individuals doesn't have to be just young children, but individuals who communicate primarily um through physical means or vocalizing.
Um and maybe not even using conventional physical means such as conventional gestures, such as pointing or showing, or waving high and by.
But subtle ways that they may use their body.
