And I think this is really useful, both for getting a handle on what the problem is.

Yeah, because the rational analytic part of our mind is often telling us, oh, it doesn't make sense.
You shouldn't do that.

And behaviors make sense in the sense of, say, substance use problems, where there can be many different functions that people are trying to fulfill with alcohol use, right?
Like some people do it to feel better because they feel pain, but some people do it to fit in.
