But but the the the earliest version of Tristan and Isolda is difficult to pin down and one of the earliest in fact

is an old Norse uh account which is done at the court of King Hakon of Norway, possibly around Bergen.

Um and uh in that in that whole version of Tristan and East Old the Ireland plays a much a rather bigger role than it normally plays.

Isolde is or Isolda is normally seen as an Irish princess.

But in this version it gives a long description uh or fairly lengthy description of Tristan arriving into Dublin, coming up to the castle, um, the the dead man being brought down on a pier, and then there's this wonderful description of at one point they disguise themselves as merchants and they arrive in and they stop the boat

And then they come in um to ask permission to bring the boat further in.

And it all sounds terribly like

what you can read in Howard Clark about that port being around the area of the Long Sane, uh then the the the more sheltered port being around the Black Pool.

So that was I I mean I I was fortunate enough to go on an Erasmus trip to um to Denmark.

But it was a very grand affair and they talk a lot about the way in which the king King Arthur ostensibly offers

uh the night cloak.

and and furs and they're good furs, they're Scandinavian furs.

They're not your average squirrel or pine martin or or or whatever.

And then it talks about all the people attending the ceremony.
