And so to your point, this idea that we'll just insulate ourselves from the world is untrue.
Whatever we're paying for jet fuel here has a big relationship to what they're paying for jet fuel in Europe because it's open to the highest bidder.
And if it's worth it to put it on a ship and sell it to Europe, that's exactly what's going to happen.
Unless we do something really catastrophic, which is, you know, close down our borders to exports.
That would be a bad idea for a country with a hundred billion dollars last month trade deficit.
It was like, nah, we're going to keep all our good stuff.
We're going to send you our treasuries.
You know, we're good.
You know, it's going to be a terrible idea.
Well, first off, you'd have a heck of a legal battle on your hands, because that would sort of break the fundamental contract that we have with how business operates.
Second, we have legitimate contracts for LNG, for other petroleum products, things like that, that would have to get broken.
But more to the point, it would isolate us really badly in a time when we need at least the appearance, if not the reality, of free trade happening, where things go freely across our borders.
To take one portion of that and shut it down,
I think it would be as damaging as when in, what was it, February 2022, when the United States Treasury under Biden decided to freeze Russia's sovereign assets, reserves.
They're neither sovereign nor reserves under that scenario.
And that kicked off a whole lot of things where people started walking away from the dollar.
We started to see the treasuries weren't getting bid.
Gold started to spike.
There are real consequences to actions like that.
