But in this kind of weather, people need to drink regardless of whether or not they feel thirsty.
And that includes particularly people who are vulnerable.
I mentioned those groups earlier, older people and those who can't access drinks themselves.
Those maybe have confused dementia or mobility problems, young babies.
So we need to maintain high levels of cold fluids and change the usual rule set for children.
Get fluids in, cold fluids, lollipops, whatever means are necessary to get them drinking cold fluids.
We're talking for adults, two to two and a half litres a day.
People are exercising or out in the open and sweating a lot in excess of that.
There are a small number of people, Brendan, who are on medical advice who suffer from particular chronic illness symptoms.

I think if you look at the experience of how people adapt in other countries where they're much more acclimatised to this kind of weather, they generally stay out of the hot weather during the hot hours between 11am and 3pm and even longer.
And we know about the siesta culture and so on in southern European countries where they're much more acclimatised to this weather.
The same advice goes for us here.
These temperatures are very high, approaching, as I said, in West Cork, 30 degrees or more this afternoon.
And really the advice for people is if you're going to exercise, which is always good, but in this kind of weather, it does present particular hazards.
It's much better to exercise in the early morning or late in the evening when the temperature is cooler.
