It's not about bringing in kind of pharma chemicals.
It's about making sure that whatever raw products they're using, that they're sourced as much as possible from Ireland.
Or if it's tech, then you have the kind of feeder parts also made then in Ireland.
Some of the earlier tech companies actually lobbied for this.
Saying that, you know, this is back in the 1980s, saying that we're importing all the parts for our tech.
If they were making it down the road, that would help us then as well.
And there was no real kind of...
sense of that.
So we have, this is one of the reasons why FDI is kind of discombobulated.
It's almost a separate Ireland.
You know, they look from the rest.
And then we get into, and that's also why Ireland's kind of GDP is, well, to be
you know, to be flippant somewhere, you know, they're dead about it.
I mean, Ireland's kind of GDP is the greatest work of Irish fiction since the Ulysses, you know.
And, you know, this has been finally kind of acknowledged by the CSO after they were embarrassed internationally in like 2016 by the, you know,
economist Paul Krugman, you know, who just labeled, you know, Irish GDP as kind of leprechaun economics.
And like, it's a very good phrase because like it stuck.
It went global.
And this was at the time when Ireland was in the Bailiff Programme and Enda Kenny, he was on the cover of Time magazine because Ireland had booked the trend.
It showed that you can have ruthless kind of austerity and growth.
