Oh, we have so many studies ongoing at the moment.
One of the things we're looking at is really diving even deeper into the biological impact that arts engagement has, so how it affects
The abundance of different proteins in our bodies affects inflammation in our immune system, helping to reduce it.
It even seems to affect the expression of our genes.
So we've got loads of biological studies like that underway.
We're actually also just planning some of our first studies into the actual impact of ART people in perimenopause.
There are a couple of studies out there already, but this is a gap, shockingly, for perimenopause research, not enough research.
So we're looking a lot more at that, particularly thinking about how things like singing and dancing could be something that could really support here.
So that feels really exciting as well.
I mean, dance is exercise, but when you dance, it's not just exercise.
It's also the shape and the beauty and the music that can be with it and the story you're telling with your dancing.
And actually some of the studies that have directly compared dance
to equivalent exercise but without that same creative component have shown even greater benefits from the dance.
And we see that in terms of people's psychological response, so greater improvements in anxiety and depression.
We see it biologically, like greater reductions in cholesterol, for example, and even greater reductions in BMI.
That's crazy.
and some of this is around the motivation because of course if people are really enjoying something they're motivated to do it more which means that they'll get a higher dose of that exercise but it's also due to the fact that it's bringing in these psychological components as well and actually we know so much that our mental health and our physical health are so tightly interconnected that if we're doing something even if we're doing it dance as exercise for physical health if it's also improving our mental health that in turn is benefiting our physical health too so it really
adds a whole extra dimension to exercising if we can make it creative.
And it's called Art Cure, if anyone wants to know the title.
To me, it means embracing creativity in all of its different forms and remembering that we are inherently creative beings and that we get so much joy from it.
