So pe oftentimes people don't even want to think they have PTSD because they don't want to be comparing themselves to, you know, combat factors.
So my definition of PTSD is when you have an overactive fight or flight or freeze or fawn system.
And it the adrenaline shoots up.
more quickly than it does with other people and then it goes down slower.
And for a lot of people, they just run out of higher baseline.
And it for example, first responders or people with high stress jobs, they have a higher baseline of adrenaline.
And the most important thing is what I had said before is your logical brain goes offline when this happens.
Because I think a lot of times we get so enamored with our logical brain and with cognitive behavioral therapy, which is really about changing your thoughts.
And of course, that can be so helpful, but it doesn't always work.
Like what really has bugged me so much in my life.
Is when people try to present that as the answer to everything.
Oh, well, you just have to change your thoughts.
You just have to look at it this way or think about it this way, or put a smear of positivity onto a mountain of negativity.
And then when you can't do that, then you feel even worse.
So that's what really bugs me.
That's what my my book is all about, is to to really not make things worse.
And so with EMDR, that is a therapy that has been around since the mid-80s.
And the way I like to describe it is it's really kind of like hypnosis without the trance.
I practiced hypnosis for a long time.
And you know, I hated it when people would say like, oh, are you gonna make me bark like a dog?
