Well, I think that I wouldn't say there's a huge difference in how you protect your brain.
But I think that the idea that two thirds of Alzheimer's patients are women.
Think about that.
They outnumber men two to one.
Back in the day, one wonders why that wasn't paid more attention to in terms of research, what's going on.
And I think it really just speaks to the disservice that women have experienced as it relates to medical research.
It's all been about men, not about children and not about women.
But that's, I don't know what kind of statement that is.
I don't know if it's political or otherwise, but
I wanted to say it because I want to write that wrong.
But that said, I think that when you look at the work of Dr. Lisa Moscone, she is currently doing a study.
It's ongoing as we speak.
It's an interventional trial looking at women perimenopausal.
Part of the group is getting hormone replacement therapy and the other group is not.
And I think she's going to find that at that window of time,
in the just pre- and perimenopausal period that women receiving hormone replacement therapy are going to be at a lower risk compared to those who are not.
The politics that were around that really castigated hormone replacement therapy as somehow being related to breast cancer risk, how that evolved is, I just can't imagine how that would have taken hold.
The study that really popularized that notion was so flawed and proved to be such a disservice for hundreds of thousands, if not millions of women,
But let's move beyond it.
Let's paint this glass as, let's light the candle, not curse the darkness.
