Historically that he's the first in that line Carcole was occupied long before that and there's impressive architecture here before that But it's his rule that everyone is counting back to when they're talking about the history of the site So if you could have found anyone in the history of Carcole, he's pretty high on the list Yeah, he's very high on the list.

The bones were able to tell us that he was an elderly individual.
Oh, yeah, no, a little older than that.
So if you think about, even in our current world, we've got great dentistry.
You know, there are individuals that lose all of their teeth, right?
So he had no teeth.
And there were no places for those teeth, no sockets for the teeth left.
It had all been completely reserved.
So for a long period of time, he'd been eating food or, you know, mashing food, but without teeth.
So that's a clear indication of his advanced age.
I think just like today, it really does depend on the individual.
And sometimes we have a lot of evidence that can tell us about them and other times less so.
This time period at Caracol, we don't have the luxury of the huge hieroglyphic history, but for some of our rulers, we know what they're saying about themselves at least.
They're great leaders.
They're leading the site in war.
There are battles with other sites that they're winning.
They're taking captives.
We also know that they're at least saying that they're doing sacrifices for the people.
