So the idea when we first come up with inquisitors is the idea of an inquisitor is supposed to be that they're supposed to stop violence, right?
happening to people who are accused of heresy in particular.
Because before, if a group of people decide that an individual is a heretic, we do have instances where whole towns will just like burn someone to death and the church is like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, who is this, right?
So an inquisitor is usually a Franciscan or a Dominican because they are members of this particular type of monastic order, which was made in order to kind of like
make the church stop being so profligate, essentially.
So they are born out of these reform movements, like these movements to, like, get the church on the right track.
That's point A. And point B, they are monks who work with the community.

You know, there are notable exceptions.
So, for example, the Albigensian Crusade, like, it gets a little bit out of hand there.
To be fair, those people were heretics.
