And so Penelope and Odysseus' son just on the edge of manhood.
And it's really interesting because here we're seeing a replacement for Odysseus in a different way.
We're seeing a son who could potentially replace the father.
And he steps up and he almost strings the bow.
How interesting.
Yeah.
And it's a nod from Odysseus that stops him from doing it.
Exactly.
And to prove himself as sort of the natural successor to Odysseus.
The next king.
Yeah, exactly.
So I think it's definitely a sign that Telemachus is on the edge of that point where he would be able to stand side by side with Odysseus and claim the kingship.
Of course, the fact that he doesn't do it then sets the scene for Odysseus disguised as the beggar to step in and say, well, can I have a go?
It is indeed.
And we've had moments also when he met with Helen, Helen of Sparta, Helen of Troy, where she said, you look so like Odysseus, you know.
So he's definitely being seen as following in Odysseus' footsteps.
However, in order to kind of get on dad's side, there is something that he's got to do.
And that's pretty horrific, which is the slaughter of the suitors.
And he takes part in that.
And it's almost his initiation into manhood, into the kingship of Ithaca, is if you're prepared to do this, then, you know, this is what you've got to do.
