So he heads in and he decides he wants to kind of find out.

On his way, he is visited by Hermes, the messenger god who we saw earlier coming to Calypso's island, delivering the message from Zeus.
Now, Hermes here has come to help Odysseus and he has essentially come to also warn him that Circe has this knowledge of herbs and he gives him a herb in return.
And this is a herb called in the Greek moli.
We're not entirely sure what it was.
We think it might be some kind of early sort of wild garlic type thing.
So it's meant to have black roots and a white flower.
And he's told to consume this and this will protect him from Circe's drugs.
It's not working.
Exactly.
No, he's very confident because he knows that he's got this help from the gods.
And then at that point, yeah, she's sort of, okay, well, he hasn't turned into a pig.
She then recalls a prediction that has been made to her that Odysseus,
will come and so this has been prophesied um she kind of recognizes he draws his sword as hermes has told him to kind of rushes at her and she sort of says no need for that you know let's go to bed and he says well not before you've turned my men back into men for pigs so she does that and then they go to bed and he stays on her island for a year having sex and having lots of nice food
And in fact, he actually it's really interesting because we talked about the lotus eaters, the danger of forgetting.
Well, here he does forget.
And here it's actually his men who remind him at the end of a year.
