She tells him what to do basically to get to the banks of the River Acheron.
I have been to it.
And, you know, I have to say very, very beautiful.
But, you know, in the ancient myth, there were nine different rivers feeding into the underworld or in the underworld.
And the Acheron was one of the rivers that actually was in kind of the world of the mortals and then kind of dipped its way through towards into the underworld.
So it's a sort of portal, a place where death and life meet.
So go to the banks of the Acheron, draw up your ships there.
And on the shore, he needs to do a very specific ritual where he needs to kind of dig a pit.
He needs to slaughter some animals and he needs to put them with their heads down into the pit so that the blood trickles down into the ground.
Now, of course, this is what spirits of the underworld want.
Because the spirits of the underworld are completely lifeless.
They have no form.
They have no substance.
They don't even have any voice.
They just kind of squeak away.
So what they want is to be able to drink blood and get some of that kind of vital energy back into them.
And so he's got to get that blood in there.
He's got to summon the spirits of the underworld.
He's got to ward them all off until Tiresias comes.
And when Tiresias drinks the blood, then he can speak to him and Odysseus will know his way home.
