You go to Africa, you take their allies away from them, and Carthage itself as the city becomes much more vulner vulnerable.

And it stops the Carthaginians from being able to reinforce their troops in Sicily.

So that's what the Romans intend to do.

And they gather a massive force.

So they hundreds, supposedly, of ships, hundreds.

It's 350 is the number I think on both sides, which again, I said just hard to believe.

Now, of course, we have to remember this is taking place over 10, 15 years.

It's not all happening in the same year.

All these battles, and then the recovery from them, the rebuilding of fleets that has to happen for the destroyed ships.

All this stuff is taking quite a few years.

But we are in around.

um the two fifties, early two fifties, when this battle is taking place off of the south coast of Sicily near a place called Ecnomus, Cape Ecnomus, and we have the two sides

gathering together there, the Romans to invade Africa and the Carthaginians to try and stop them.

The Carthaginians are as aware as everyone else is by this point of what how vulnerable they are in Africa.

And and this is a theme all the way through these histories, is the Carthaginians want to stop invasions of Africa.
