We have no control, 100% voluntary control.
We don't have control over our lungs.
We don't have 100% control over anything else in our body other than our skeletal muscle system.
And that is also the lever that we pull for health and longevity, for course-correcting frailty through taking us through perimenopause and menopause.
And it is also the lever that we pull for mental toughness and physical capacity.
The fastest way to get out of your own way is not trying to do mental gymnastics or to meditate.
I mean, I'm just not that effective at it.
But I put you in a cold plunge.
You're done.
You're not thinking about this.
Or I put you, I asked you to do.
I remember I was in the gym with my friend, Dr. Jen Ashton, and she said, okay, well, we're going to do bike sprint intervals.
There was nothing that I could think about other than
what I was doing at the moment, but the lever that was being pulled was the one of muscle.
So it's leveraging the physicality to move the mentality.
And then ultimately the outcome is an aging choice.
I am still trying to bulk.
I am a hundred and maybe ten pounds overweight.
Five foot one.
It's impossible.
