Um but no, it's really good.

David and I were just saying we both hugely enjoyed reading it.

We're really looking forward to getting into this conversation for the benefit of listeners.

We've had d an interesting like off off recording chat about the definition of autonomy and what is it that we're really talking about here and we'll get into all of that.

But first, just for anybody who is not yet familiar with you or your work.

Can you just explain a little bit about who you are and what you do and how this book came to be?

So so um l we'll we will get like let's just see how far we get into this conversation before the question of what autonomy actually is comes up.

But let's just start with the with the introduction of your book, right?

So um you mentioned there was a teacher tap poll done uh a couple of years ago

Where only eighteen percent of teachers said that they strongly agree with the statement, I have a great deal of choice and freedom in deciding how I do my work.

Why do you think that number is so low?

Yeah.

I wonder if we should maybe just s spend a few minutes just sort of fleshing this out. 'Cause you said that that's been your experience that that that the amount of autonomy has decreased or the amount of control has increased.

And I think that there's a general agreement.

Would you agree that they're that they're basically like the what is the opposite of autonomy in schools?

It's control.
