It was just the fact that they were not present in appearance.

I was working only with variants.

I didn't look at the complete sequence, and I was looking only at known human markers.

So that is a limitation.

Obviously, it would be nice to look at between the markers, but...

With the simplistic computation I had, I only compared what was published, the variants, human variants.

And the variant can be, say, one letter or another.

There are four letters in the genome, A, G, C, T. So it could be A or G. And if two parents have, say, AA and AA genes,

genotypes in that position, and the child has GG, that's non-parental variant.

I didn't go any further, but I found that there are stretches of, it's called haplotypes, but stretches of variants which are not from parents.

But again, it can be an artifact of culture, and so I cannot say I proved it.
