Now, there's a different type of study, which is much harder to do, called prospective pre-trauma studies, where you measure somebody's brain before they were traumatized and then follow them.
They go through trauma, and then you look at them again on a brain imaging scanner, look at their physiology.
And I wrote a review about this in 2021.
And there was about 25 of these studies.
There's now about three dozen of these studies.
And they do not support the idea that the body keeps the score.
They do not show that brain centers change following trauma.
They show that the brain centers were different or the physiology was different before they had trauma.
It would be if that's the way truth worked, yes.
She's a convert to that whole body keeps the score thing.
She's had Bruce Perry on her show.
That's actually her frequent guest.
And she wrote a book with Bruce Perry, which is along the same lines.
It's called What Happened to You.
She did a 60 Minutes episode supporting this idea that trauma damages people's brains.
And she called it one of the most enlightening things of her entire life.
And that's pretty amazing for someone like Oprah, who spent her whole life trying to find inspiration in life.
Trauma was her biggest one.
people are resilient.
If you look at people who've been through trauma, 100% will have some kind of symptoms in that first few weeks or a month, but they go away.
