You know, we've suddenly got rid of these exemptions.
And the biggest problem is that you're not passing that back to anyone in any sort of meaningful income tax.
You're taking it in to increase government spending.
And I think eventually what's going to happen, and I hope it happens sooner rather than later, but the broader Australian community will start to look at these areas of government spending and they will recognise...
It is inefficient.
It's not getting to the people who need it.
And it's ultimately causing problems for them as individuals and families.
I recognized this this year with my mother who needed a home care package.
My dad, so hard to get.
So hard to get.
Waited for six months and then she was allowed 60% of the home care package.
It's like saying, what do you do?
go into surgery and say, I'll give you 60% of surgery?
Like what, how did that happen?
Absolutely.
I'm sorry to hear that.
That's, I bet that's the sort of thing that's going on.
And so we have a triangle in our care economy, the much vaunted care economy of Jim Chalmers that is supposed to somehow cause the growth of this country.
I haven't quite worked out how it's going to do that.
